Let's not go overboard.  It's not a "terrible idea" for SJU to play Iona.    We play midmajors, everyone does.
Wtf difference does it make if we lose to Iona instead of St Marys,  USF,  Long Beach State, UNC Ashville, or Florida Golf Coast?  It doesn't really.

I understand what you're saying goredmen.  There's no reason for SJU to go out of there way to play a midmajor where they might lose.    And Baldis mission can get tedious.
But it's not incomprehensible that we'd play the Gaels.

I've moved my annoying, repetitive posts on this topic to Twitter. But for some reason, my name keeps appearing in posts on this thread

So far:

- 18 Big East Games.
- Road Games vs. Syracuse, Tulane & Minnesota.
- Three games at the Battle 4 Atlantis in a field that includes Michigan State, Louisville, Baylor, Wichita State, VCU, LSU & Old Dominion.
- Home games vs Binghamton & Longwood.

So far I'd say it's looking like a solid schedule for the season.

They give a date yet for that Tulane game?

If you look at our SOS's for the last six years or so, I'd say they were pretty solid.  I'll have to look them up and post  when I have time.

Game a wed. Night. Sucks I wanted to go last time. My friend backed out on me at last second.

The Minn road game is also a home and home situation--last year we had a home game in the BE/B10 challenge; now our turn to go on the road

Rutgers in on the road for that 2 years in a row, so I guess it's not automatic for that challenge.

The teams probably have no say in who they get, anyway.

Minnesota was part of the NIT tournament.  It was not a home game.  Has nothing to do with Big ten.

We're the undercard. Great.

What a miserable double header that will be.

Atleast we can sit in the first row for the 1st half of our game. I wish I could say I am shocked by this game. But they keep doing it. Embrassing and foolish. Why not try and get two other decent teams?

Unless, they decide to participate in a scrimmage the following day.

Get two other decent teams or allow the two winning teams (in this case, it'll arguably be the Johnnies and Kentucky) to play one another the following evening.  They could also do the latter with two other decent teams like the once-Holiday Festival.

I wonder if having an interim AD is contributing to this terrible idea?

In any event, this "Interim AD" nonsense supports notion that SJU either undervalues the  position, can't afford an additional salary or is the "mom & pop" Athletic Department some folks often reference.

I would assume that they undervalue the position, but like everything with that school, decisions are made by committee.

U Washington and Uconn currently have interim ADs. Maybe they're mom and pop programs too?

Kentucky was suppose to play Hofstra at the New Coliseum.    I assume Kentucky did not want to have a tough game and Hofstra was the local choice.

With that game on the 11th and the game against Tulane rumored to be the previous weekend I wonder if that is possibly the end of the Holiday Festival.  If so, that would be great news.  Playing a crap team every year in MSG makes no sense.

I rather us play Syracuse every year in the Holiday Festival - get their game in MSG and we play them.
