Is that really saying anything?  A brain dead centipede could've contributed as much as Mitch Richmond. I tend to agree with Redy2Rumble.  I'm very confident in Anderson's ability to coach and develop players but I need to see him recruit a higher quality of hs player to sju then what he has gotten in the past.  I thought his best option would've been to put together a staff with 1 or 2 stud recruiters.
and how exactly is our mediocre  program going to attract and afford "stud" recruiters? Wouldn't they be working at stud programs? If we got the studs our head coach would be a Stevens or a Donovan or a Calipari.

This is a real question, does any team in the big east have a designated stud recruiter on their staff?

Slice certainly was the stud of all studs in the asst coach recruiter market.

You guys are misunderstanding my use of the word stud.  I want a guy who's experienced at bringing big east quality hs recruits.  I want a guy with a track record of landing high 3 star and 4 star recruits from across the nation.  Esposito would satisfy that desire.  A top juco coach does not satisfy that desire.

It's all about fit. Richmond added value in the fact he's a Hall of Fame player and knows the life these kids are trying to achieve.

I think skill development he added good stuff. Unfortunately he's never been a coach nor did he make up for that curve. Would have been great in that "special assistant" role.

Macon and DeMeo both have experience which is great. Van will be more behind the scenes with recruiting while DeMeo has a little bit of everything which is important too.

I still think we lack what we need in Dobo and elsewhere. I think Lavin had the right path with staff initially. I think the school didn't understand added costs of a guy like Wrobel.
100% agree with your point about how Richmond would've had value in the special asst role ala Gene Keady.  As soon as slice left and Mitch was promoted Mullin went from having a good staff to a very poor staff in my mind.

Also, I agree I'm not thrilled with Anderson's Dobo hire.

Doesn’t van Macon fit that description? The associate head coach (can’t think of his name) recruited plenty at Arkansas.

The fact that anyone would want anything else is scary. This is the best staff we have had in my lifetime.

It does look to be a very well rounded staff with a lot of experience. No complaints.

According to Dave, Norm's staff was better than this current one.

I think Lavin's initial staff was the most well-rounded staff i think we've ever seen.  lavin knew what he needed and built around that.

CMA seems to be doing a similar job. the assistants may not be as high-profile as lavin's but on paper the staff is really solid and well-rounded.

exciting.

Demeo hired as third assistant

https://twitter.com/NYPost_Brazille/status/1134161197568274432

Terrible hire by Coach Anderson...

I know of at least two other local guys that spoke to them and both would have been much better...

Explain please. Seems like a solid guy with a successful HC career and recruiting cred.

To say Demeo is a terrible hire is absurd.  He’s got a wealth of experience, has been an assistant at several schools, AHC as well as well travelled and very succeasful juco coach.  He’s got a similar resume’ to Darren Savino who is now they AHC at UCLA under Cronin.  Very solid 3rd assistant hire.  Making everybody happy is impossible.

Terrible is quite harsh given his solid, experienced background. Glad to see the staff rounded out with DeMeo. Get another pg, another big and fast forward to November lol.

Kevin Willard didn't hire him - that's the explanation.

Many of us thought that the CMA hire meant that we would turn our attention to national instead of local recruiting.

Hiring Macon and DeMeo says otherwise.

Champagnie is a solid start. Now we need a point guard.

That doesn’t preclude us from recruiting nationally.  Mike Anderson, Cleveland, Van Macon and demeo have a lot of reach including Midwest, south, tru-state and New England.  They certainly know the local landscape but are well-travelled and recruit all over.
