2020 Transfers
« on: March 15, 2020, 06:50:53 PM »
Are we net winners in transfers this year? I’m guessing Sears and Steere leave. Anyone else? Caraher probably would be good at a lower level too, but he’s a useful 5-10mins a game if he want to embrace that role to play in the big East.

Any early guesses for who transfers here? Could still be in the market for jucos, high school seniors, and decommits as some coaches get fired too. Wherever they come from, we should be in the market for some front court help.

Caraher should stay one more year and graduate to open his options. I’d be surprised if Sears left. I’d be surprised if Steere stayed.

LJ looked miserable here so I assume he goes pro (not NBA).

We should be big winners in the transfer game. We need a legit big man. I would think we’d be an attractive option to a graduating big man. We are a 20-win tournament team without one IMO.

Sears pretty much just said he’s transferring.

Can’t blame him. He didn’t get the same chance to play that other guys did.

Maybe didn't get the PT but got chances to play he just did not earn extended minutes but he always played hard. Good luck to the young man.

I didn’t see that. Weird move from a junior. I like his game as a backup. It just sucks he plays the same position as two of our top four players.

LJ was having some dang fun those last 4-5 games it looked like, and Heron tweeted saying he wished they would give the winter sports another year and LJ tweeted “yessir” but then deleted it so who knows. It would probably be best if Sears, and Caraher transferred, even though Caraher loves the players on his team. Steere is a mystery, he has the potential but will he stick around to show it for a full season, he’s never played a full season anywhere sooo.

Sears looks like a center. The other two more like forwards.

I don't think it can be done. That would represent one heck of a coaching job outa CFC.

He was just averaging 20 per for us down the stretch. It would have to be some upgrade in talent if his minutes were to drop that much as an upperclassman.

I know it's been popular interpretation of an instagram post and not disagreeing but has there been anything else to substantiate this?

What if this is all just an end of season post?

Steere must be history; everyone but he got burn in the BET. Sears is replaceable, Caraher would be nice to have him come back, just not in the front court. We would need Roberts back at 100% by Oct 15.

Not official but comments from teammates certainly seem like goodbye.

I actually like Sears. He 's exactly the type of bigger body we need. 6'7, 6'8 230 with some athleticism. He showed a few spurts during the end of the season in very limited action. Not sure if he was in Anderson's doghouse or what but he could be a contributor next season if he stays.

I don’t know about talent, but I’m assuming MA is recruiting guys better suited to play his style which will lead to reduced minutes for Caraher. Certainly is possible that’s not the case.  I’m assuming the incoming guys will be taking up some major minutes. While we will likely lose LJ and another transfer or two, I don’t expect Earlington, champagnie, or Williams to play any less, so it seems like Caraher’s minutes will be down.  Again, I do think he can be helpful off the bench at reduced minutes if he embraces that role.

Another wrinkle will be if seniors get another year of eligibility. Does that change anything for Heron (I would guess probably not)? Does the grad transfer market heat up?

A lot of moving parts this offseason, but it seems like for once in recent history we’ll be coming into this period from a position of relative strength with a good core in place and a nice sized recruiting class long since committed.

I guess we saw this coming. Where to? Iona? Hofstra? I could see him doing well at Hofstra.

There is no way he got 66 credits in a year.
