When Ponds was here everyone game planned him and LJF and Heron thrived. Last year everyone game planned LJF and Heron and the new guys thrived, relatively speaking. If this year everyone game plans Champagnie and Earlington, who thrives? Better be somebody - and as the poster above said there's not a lot of evidence of non Berry/Bootsy/Boo JUCOs not having adjustment issues - or it's going to be another long year. Posh is a freshman. Caraher will contribute I think ultimately but he's Tim Doyle light. Maybe it's Williams. Better be somebody.
I think we all remember times when a JUCO turned out to be a pleasant surprise like Bootsy Thornton, Marcus Hatten and to a significantly lesser extent, LJ, but it’s very hard to tell if they can handle pressure defense or any defense because in every YouTube video, they are all always wide open. An Avery Patterson level player who can light up Navy but can’t even put it on the floor against Maryland isn’t going to cut it. I think we will need Cole to live up to the hype, and maybe even exceed it in order to contend.
If he’s James Scott or Bashir Ahmed, we are going to have to count on others to step up.
Posh could be a scorer. Sure he’s a freshman, but he’s been playing against top competition for long enough. Wouldn’t surprise me to see that he’s ready to go.
