tobias and lamb are must get elite. hold the ship

First as MKras said thought those ships had sailed.  In their absence STJ needs bigs (PFs and Cs) for beyond 2011 (next year's team is fine as is).  Right now they only have Qunicy, Malik II and Omari for the 11/12 roster.  Either they get some kind of big from this class or they'll need to sign at least 2 good JC bigs from the class of 11 to even field a competitive team with some experience.

There are always surprise recruits at the end of a season.
We just need to appear like we're heading in the right the direction.

It seems to me that's how Cinci snagged Lance.

Not that I saw. I did however, see Sharif Fordham, George Johnson and Mohammed Diakite.

If Sharif was on this team, he'd be the starting pg.
Her's playing in something called the ABA now.

Well, since both are verballing early, don't play for his Panthers, and have been looking at better programs for months, don't spend too much time praying ;)

If he's announcing Wed, imho there's no way he's picking St. John's.

Just my opinion.  I figured if we had a good year then we may have a chance at getting him, but if he's making his announcement before the year has really gotten started then he's going to pick a more established program like Nova or Tenn.

Jay is NOT picking SJU. As a lifetime fan and a family friend it hurts because I would have loved to see him play here. Like I said last week he isnt coming and after he makes it official I will explain why I heard he isnt coming. PLEASE MAKE THIS CLEAR....I only know this from my mom who is VERY close with the family. I barely know JAY and dont consider myself part of his circle. Also please dont shoot the messenger, just sharing info

If you ask any Tennessee fan they know the answer apparently.

Any chance you will repeat yuorself here so I do not have to go looking through a million post on Redmen.com??

I also think that if Jay is signing early it will not be with us. I thought if he waited to the spring and we had a strong season he could sign with us.

I really want Jay.

I already knew how this would play out, once the Johnnies were no longer the leader for his services.  I use to love going to the recruiting sites and purchasing the Recruiter's Handbook at one point.

I rarely go to the recruiting sites any longer and I haven't bought a Recruiter's Handbook in 2 years.  For what?!  To read about blue-chip recruits going elsewhere....  I still root for this team, but the passion I had for the team has been seeped out of me.

By the way, I'm looking forward to the reason(s) Pinkston choose not to play for the Johnnies, 79....  Thanks!

Good luck, Pinkston (in Knoxville or Philadelphia)!

Wouldn't it be funny if on Wednesday Jayvaughn says, "St. John's"

It's ok if everyone has skepticism and for good reason by past encounters however lets wait till Wednesday.

The uncertainty surrounding our coaching situation is a good guess.

He can recruit.  ;)
Given the context of who Pinkston was looking at, there was a funny scene in N.LV when Pearl walked in with his stunning fiance. Coaches were commiserating with him over getting WWW'd by Selby (no less when he was away at the Maccabi Games), when Pearl makes a dash from the coaches after spotting the married Jay Wright chatting up Pearl's new fiance.

As they say in Knoxville, men's basketball is the fourth biggest sport-right after football, women's basketball, spring football and just ahead of baseball.

I would love to be wrong. As a diehard fan I am as upset as all of you are about where we are as a program and not being able to get a kid like J but he's not coming. I will say however that their are people close to him that did want to see him here at SJU
