"According to multiple sources, Steve Lavin will be the next head coach at St. John's. We've been expecting this, so how fast do the dominoes start falling now?
Lavin hasn't coached college ball in seven years, and his last gig was 3,000 miles away in Westwood. So if he's hired, he'll have to bring in a full roster of assistants who can hit the streets running and bring him the local kids he'll need to succeed.
Two prominent names jump out of the field of possible assistants. Former DePaul and Virginia head coach Dave Leitao is expected to sign on to help Lavin hit the ground running, and Barry Rohrssen, currently heading up the Manhattan Jaspers, could create another opening for an up-and-comer if he joins Lavin's staff.
