How many times do I have to tell you guys don't believe everything you read in the papers.

We ignore you because someone else told us not to believe everything we read on the interwebs.

I believe Lavin mentioned something to the effect of bringing in Keady, as an advisor.  So, I think he'll pick Keady's brain to aide him (and, his assistants) in being a better coach.

As, far as the assistants....  I'm somewhat on the fence when it comes to bringing in Hicks or any of the current AAU guys in NY/NJ.  I feel it may cause some jealousy and envy within the ranks, if one of the "guys" end up, as an assistant with the Johnnies.

So, I would rather stick with a guy who has strong ties to the local AAU programs ala Rohrrsen and Grasso.  Not to mention, I'm hoping for Leitao, as he can work the Northeast recruiting base.  Yes, I want guys who can recruit the NY/NY area, but I definitely want coaches who are able to recruit a larger base.  Frankly, I think Lavin and Leitao are the coaches who should be able to expand their recruiting outside of the metropolitan area.

Hopefully, Lavin does his due dilligence and comes up with the "Dream Staff" or a staff that resembles one.

I am sorry but Lavin should not have 73 Keady on his bench.....a consultant behind the scenes yes but on the bench....time to cut the cord.

Would you prefer a 28 year-old local AAU "coach?"

No not necessarily an AAU guy.....am I the only one that finds this strange??? Why don't we wheel in John Wooden and put him next to the scorers table. Again, maybe I am off base here and I am sure the members of the jungle will set me straight. No one else finds this strange?

i for Lavin bringing in whoever he wants, but what is this guy gonna do, that lou carnesecca hasn't done at his age? (i dont know how much Lou has been involved with the teams basketball operations) i dont know much about this guy but i think hes is better being a consultant with the team or PBO

I'm not trying to be critical of you at all,
but I'd rather err on the side of accumulated knowledge over worrying about his age.

If Lavin still feels Keady has energy and insight (for both him as a coach and the players) left in him, so be it. As long as it makes Lavin feel comfortable and strengthen his weaknesses, I have no problem with Keady helping out the program in some capacity for as long as he is capable.

Not strange at all. He's a hall of famer.

What's the rules on consultants?  Can he coach the players or would he have to be on the staff to do that?
When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!
