In retrospect Gift would have helped to SOME extent this year (who knows how that can be quantified).  My guess is that between Jones playing well early (which is all we read) and the staff's belief that Sanchez ultimately would get qualified, led them to conclude that the better play was redshirting Gift.  That probably has turned out to be the wrong call, but I honestly don't know how much it would have mattered this year in the standings.  We'll never know.

And there is always the possibility of redshirting a talented young player -- like Felix or Jones -- next year.

Keep Jones around for an extra year?  No thanks.

Woefully shortsighted in the most extreme.

A redshirt still takes up a scholarship.   And takes it up for an extra year.  Doesn't solve the problem.

Agreed but we don't have a problem yet.  Getting way ahead of ourselves.  Sanchez is very far from ever being declared eligible and Jordan has still not committed.

“@jmverlin: Rysheed Jordan's jumper at the buzzer is NO GOOD! Imhotep holds on for a 67-66 victory in the Public League championship”

At one point he had 42 points late in game. Have not seen another update. If we get this kid, shit can the weave, clear out and let him go to the bucket! Lol

Isiah Thomas was a point who could score. I'll take a guy that can pass and score when needed.

We should have used that today.

The halftime CYO winner changed defenses and played better on the perimeter then we did today

I knew Woodall would be the key to the game.

Story of Rysheed's game today.  The game was at Temple's home court but ironic that SJU, Temple and UCLA all played today so unlikely anyone from those 3 were there to see it.

Vaux's Rysheed Jordan named MVP of Public League A
POSTED: Monday, February 25, 2013, 11:30 AM

A day after scoring a game-high 45 points in the Public League boys' basketball championship, Vaux senior guard Rysheed Jordan was named the MVP of Public League Division A on Monday morning.

He also was named to the division's first team for the third-straight season.

Jordan grabbed six rebounds and recorded four steals as Vaux fell on Sunday afternoon to Imhotep, 67-66, in the league final at Temple. Sometime after the season Jordan will commit to UCLA, Temple or St. John's.

Up next for Vaux is the PIAA Class A Playoffs, which start March 8.

Also on Division A's first team: Brandon Austin, Imhotep; Jeremiah Worthem, Math, Civics & Sciences; Hakeem Baxter, Philadelphia Electrical; David Johnson, Communications Tech.
