I sense a commitment on the horizon.  Let's do this, Phil!

Who's next, Turner or Chandler?

If i have to pick one , Gotta be Chandler.  I don't know the scholarship situation. Turner would have to sit a full year anyway i think, right?  I feel good about Greene, Branch at the PG position.   Harrison can also play point at times if we go big.  Turner is a stud though. Don't think staff turns away that kind of talent.  Turner knows this is last shot, so should be on best behavior.  Exciting Time to be a fan.

Very very exciting times ahead.
Why not all 3 ( 3 of Nolan Chandler, Turner & Wood)
2 in Sept- one verbals for 2013 & preps?

Although I like Wood- we're overloaded @ his position so least likely

At this point I would love Nolan (for 12) then Turner and Goodman for 13.  Then find a schollie for Lawrence in 13.  That is final four talent.

Turner would take up a scholly in 2012 even though he would have to sit out a year.

Good point!

We still have some posters who think the scholarship starts when the recruit begins playing.  Josiah's scholarship, if he come to us, commences when he enrolls with us as a student, the same as with Max.  Do I have that right?

So, Moose any one one else out there, please  correct me if I am wrong.  We currently have 11 scholarships "sort of" committed for 2012-13 and 10 for 2013-14.  There is not much wiggle room now for scholarships, unless, one or two of the guys now down for scholarships this coming year are moved out.

I'm aware of that, but I would still consider him a 13 kid.

If Phil commits soon that will be #13.  The scholarship cupboard at St. John's will be closed.  Well, temporarily!

When Michael commits, hopefully, someone must go, either Felix or Max.

We sure could use a 6'9"-6'10" player at the #5 spot.

Agreed.

Things is, dropping players leaves a bad taste in coaches mouthes.

With that said, sometimes, sometimes, coaches let players verbal to get a player recognition. This occurs when two coaches arrange this behind the scenes. It's all about exposure. I doubt this is the case with us, but i would never rule anything out in recruiting.

Bottom line: We need to stack chips. While role players are great assets to any squad, let's keep it all the way one hundred percent here, we all wouldn't mind having 1-10 filling the 11-13 spots.

This can be the case with us.

So, it looks like we want 2 bigs at the end of our recruiting rain bow.
Sounds like that may come true! Not bad!

Good judgment Phil! Tick, tick!

“@PhilNolan_1: New York is by far the best city I've ever been too #NoBS”

That's pretty telling!

It sounds like he wants to be here, but will his grades get him through the NCAA THIS year?
Has anybody heard anything recently?

It has happened where a kid is qualified but thinks he could use another year of high school.

Remember Kadeem Jack of Rice 2 years ago.  He had a boatload of offers.  Decided to commit to Rutgers but still do a post-grad year at South Kent.  He ended up withdrawing from South Kent mid-year and enrolling January of 2011 at Rutgers anyway.

But still by all accounts he did not need another year to qualify.

He did his post grad at CJEOTO.

I think his grades are fine.  He's debating if Prep will better his game.

Don't know the situatons for the current kids, but as I've posted in the past - the 3 D-1 transfers Steve accepted at UCLA all agreed to walk-on during their transfer years, and went on scholarship when they became eligible to play -  Moose Bailey from Penn State, Jon Crispin from Penn State, and Brian Morrison from North Carolina.   I believe in Morrison's case, a ride opened up and he did go on scholie during the transfer year, but he'd agreed to come without it that first year.

Lavin uses NYC to the max as a recruiting attraction. Strategy appears to be working! Nice photo of big apple Phil!

Good point!  You actually land in Covington KY, so a recruit's first words could be "We landed in the wrong state".

The way it's been going lately, I think recruits can only commit to us on Sundays.
