Garry Williams board at home?
That would be insane
Yeah, Gary's sick and tired of playing golf every other day, alternately hanging with his 48 y.o. wife and Bischiotti, doing some bang up fund raising, and stopping by the AD's office every bi-week to collect on his still "Asst AD" sweet salary.

You did make me laugh - good job - I need it today  :2funny:

You know what is funny bball, Coach Williams worked for the Big Ten Network this past season as an in-studio analyst.  Odd, I know he coached Ohio St but you would think if he was going to do TV work it would be associated with the ACC.

Jim Obrein - BC and Ohio St
Justin Hutson - UNLV assistant, and former asst at SDSU

He also quotes Dave as saying Cluess is a rumor and a possibility.  Although a long-shot.  (probably true IMO)

Mo Hicks is not getting this job...  it one thing to be a great high school coach, especially when your team is loaded with Div I talent every year, but coaching on Div I level is completely different animal. When Mo was at Rice, he could roll the balls out for 3/4 of the games and his talent would win games for him. I am not saying he didn't coach his kids or prepare but its just not the same at the Big East level.

I honestly don't think that even the high level fan understands what assistants, especailly ones with larger roles, have to go through and do during the season in terms of game preparation.
What was the difference between Book Richardson and Mo Hicks ?

I agree. I was surprised too.  "In other words," it made my eyebrows raise up a bit.  Sorry, couldn't resist the
Gary schtick I've known and loved since BC days.

What was the difference between Book Richardson and Mo Hicks ?

Well first and probably most important - Book is an assistant coach and Moe is the Director of Basketball Operations - they are very different jobs and responsibilities.

I am not sure of specific differences but there are definite restrictions on what the DOB is permitted to do vs. what an assistant is permitted to do.

Moe doesn't even have a bio page on Red Storm Sports as part of the staff...

Nah I mean did Book have any greater experience than Hicks when he got hired at Xavier ? I thought he came from the Gauchos like Hicks. Seems like Hicks has just as much coaching experience as Book to get a job above Dobo.

I think Lavin will look everywhere also but just seems to me Hicks is just as qualified as Book to get a regular assistant job on a staff ( not to replace Dunlap as an x & o guru yet ) but certainly just as qualified as Book was a few years ago

Cluess really tarnished his x and o image last year imo with his lack of defense and his awful showing in the ncaa

CORRECTION - I was wrong about not having BIO page, apologies..   when I looked it up the page didn't have a link to a page for Moe Hicks, only the assistants.

Boylen was the one I was thinking of after Cleveland but I could not remember his name.

Realfan told me Phil Jackson is interested in the job
Would have thought he would have said P.J. Carlisimo. Have to believe coach Lavin was already prepared for this situation and already had a list of candidates in mind. Wonder if there is a possibility that coach because of many questioning his x and o abilities will want to prove himself in that area by not hiring a Dunlap type.

Mo was in the running several years ago for the Loyola Md. HC (I know it's not big time but it is a HC job).  But understand that it is diffferent from H.S.

Totally agree point about the job and efforts Assistants have to put in for game and practice preparation.

Personally, I don't think it will be a promotion from within.   Looking forward to this playing out for awhile with much speculation on who it will be.

Boylen sounds like a fantastic choice.  Tons of nba and college experience at his age.  He's a defensive guru as well.
Here's Bio:

But why would he leave the Knicks asst. coaching job to be a college asst?

He hasn't gotten a head gig yet from where he is. . .

We had a Nova fan here a while back raving about Gunning.

Dunlap is a huge exception. I don't think we will ever see a college asst. go straight into an NBA coaching job with no head coaching experience again for a while. Bottom line I think the Knicks asst job is far better than STJ asst job.
