Well more likely than not it would be a multi network deal with a BE game of the week on NBC on Saturday afternoons but most coverage on NBC Sports Network, wouldn't it?

Might be right with a weekend game but remember NBC also runs a lot of Golf, Hockey when they play etc....  Guessing it would be similar to ABC which doesnt show many games and most are on ESPN.

NBC Sports needs programming for cable sports business--BE has the inventory and a national, not regional, conference audience.  Also could fill in the w/e's ND is not on network and protect against possible move by money hungry, unloyal ND to ESPN as part of the ACC deal.  It would give NBC a chance to show BE versus out of conference teams from major (not ACC) conferences as the NBC exposure for the visiting team makes playing a BE school attractive rather than just another ESPN game against the ACC.

Sign lucrative TV deal.
Then jack up exit fee to ridic levels.

Only way the conf survives a lil bit more.
Parking only for NYCHA permit holders.

NBC's lost most of the golf to CBS.  NBC only has the Match Play and the Florida Swing (including WGC at Doral) in Q1.  That's 2 tournaments in the regular season, albeit the last 2 regular season weekends, and the weekend of the conference tournaments.  NBC's definitely not going to show the BET on the main network in primetime anyway.  But if they have games of the week in Jan and Feb that's better than nothing.

And after losing their second season in a decade this year Hockey is dead to the US.  Keep it on Vs., I mean NBC Sports.  Though 1 hockey game per week is harldy going to make it impossible to show a BE game each weekend as well.

The guy doing the deal pulled off the pac 12 deal that includes mutliple networks.  ESPN and Fox - I think.

It sounds like this could be the case here only with a different combination.

Too many of these schools wont pay a large exit fee. Besides that, what does it say about a conference when they have to set a $50MM exit fee?

Just get a huge deal that equals or bests what similar conferences have today.

It would be cool to see NBC or someone else besides ESPN pay top dollar for the BE product.  ESPN writers state that this won't happen.  We'll soon find out.

NBC supposedly is the clear leader to land English Premier League TV rights.

I love that they are taking programming awa from ESPN. I'm so sick of tired of ESPN. It's all ACC propogada now. Watch their Big East coverage this year, it will focus on Cuse, Pitt, and ND.

But that is what will hurt us-if we are off espn they will be vengeful by covering us even less and while a network like NBC (sports) can concentrate on us and give us even more coverage espn is the channel sports fans have on almost all the time ie. sportcenter which is what the recruits are watching. Out of sight equals out of mind and imho will hurt recruiting.

Nobody thought Fox would be a major network when compared with the Big 3--guess what happened NFL and Major league Baseball and 1/2 of Nascar and very popular TV series not to mention heavily watched cable channels

If Big East basketball isn't on ESPN, that's going to be a big mistake.

It'll take NBCSports 5 years to become relevant.    In that time the league's brand could effectively die out.
You can't be spiteful.   If the money is there from another network - then take it.   But if ESPN places a competitive bid, I wouldn't hesitate to resign with them.
And there's nothing saying that Basketball and Football rights must be lumped together.

The premier league to NBC is actually a done deal.  Saw it on TV tonight.  But ESPN doesn't really televise much EPL besides weekday matches does it?  I watch my EPL on Fox Soccer every Sat and Sun AM.  Hope NBC Sports televises as many games.

espn has done an extraordinary amount of work in its effort to make the big east irrelevant.  you don't reward them.  if nbc or fox have a good deal, jump at it.

it's not cutting off your nose to spite your face.  nbc, versus, etc are in the game to win.

NY/NJ, Chicago, Philly, Houston, Dallas, DC, Orlando, Tampa, Milwaukee, Cinci, Louisville tv markets---along with Uconns footprint in the New England market makes for a strong bargaining tool.  I would love for us to sign with NBC Sports and become their signature programming.

NBC is making moves. I'm all for it.

On a very side note it would be great for my boys Dan Martin and Rob Dauster who write for NBC. They'd likely become the Goodman and Parrish of the network.

Comcast/NBC with a foothold in Philly, NY and soon to be new headquarters in Stamford def want to make an impression with the Big East.
