Tulane: responsible fo one of the worst defeats. End of the Malik Sealy era.

Louie should have played Derek Brown more!

I guess WAC woes eclipse ours. Sad state of affairs!

For those who think the Big East is acting from a position of strength (some have suggested this), I ask this: Notice the schools that the Big East are inviting in terms of where they are coming from?

Notice how when the Pac-10 expanded they raided the Big 12 (Colorado) and the Big 10 raided the Big 12 (Nebraska), the Big East (Rutgers) and the ACC (Maryland).  The SEC expanded by raiding the Big 12 (Missouri and Texas A & M).  The ACC raided the Big East (BC, Syracuse, Pitt, Miami, Notre Dame and Va Tech).  The Big 12 raided the Big East for West Virginia.

The Big East raids small conferences.  Why?  Because no one worth anything wants to come to a conference hanging on by a thread.

Oh my!

“@KevinMcNamara33: Mike Aresco: We're not finished. We have other plans for expansion...could go to 16 in football.”

I think I answered that question, Dalton did.

Also his good friend Bodie suggested something similar.

Obviously, the BE restructuring strategy is quantity in lieu of quality.

I was curious as I don't think anybody suggested we were in a position of strength except a fictional character.  The bball schools are stuck here for now.  Why pay exit fees to leave at this point?  I'll go to New Orleans to watch SJU...;-). I also don't think they're much worse than Rutgers and they have decent money flowing into athletics there.  At this point, its getting so crazy that I'm pretty ambivalent.  I just want to keep our coach here and heading this direction as long as possible.

What about the poster  who said "As strange as it might sound, SJU Georgetown etc are sitting pretty right now." Or is sitting pretty a bad thing.

Guess the light bulb went on!

“@McMurphyESPN: Tulane president in March interview: "If you look at the Big East now, the Big East is no more than the old Conference USA"”

“@McMurphyESPN: Tulane prez in March: "My view is Big East is not a power conference & anyone who thinks they are doesn’t know athletics"”

bottom line is the conference has always been the Big Least when it comes to football.  This current activity further confirms it.  I can't see the BB  schools getting less money now for a BB focused conference as its first priority.  People in the Northeast don't give a rat's butt for college football outside of ND.  I say time to push BB and use that as a recruiting tool against FB schools where the BMOC is the FB player and not the BBer; something we can offer.
