Obekpa might be doing fantastic with the blocks, but its been at the expense of defensive rebounding.
Most of his blocks, he leaves his man to attempt block.
Quite a few of opponents offensive rebounds(and putbacks) are by his man that he left.
I'd rather see 2-3 more Reb per game and 1-2 less blocks
Nitpick.com really humming!
Gotta disagree with you on this one... that's DEFINITELY a fair criticism. A lot of people have been thinking the same thing I bet.
It's an obvious thought when we're being out-rebounded and you see our guys jumping out of their shoes constantly for a block.
But for the longest time our fans clamored for a legit shot blocking presence. And now they are saying well he doesnt have to block as many shots.
Really unfair to group everyone in to one group (our fans wanted a shot blocker), and then group everyone into the other group (our fans want less blocks). Its like saying all Giant fans are nice persons because a few fans actually are. Now if the same poster is saying both things, then yeah, that's a fair criticism.
Please clarify - you talking football or baseball Giants? 'Cause this is like one of those old psych 101 True/False questions, where both answers can be right!
Sometimes I just get tired of people lumping everyone together. Two or three posters complain about something, then all of a sudden posters will say, everyone is complaining. No, everyone isn't complaining, just two or three posters are. I do realize that most of the time it is done tongue-in-cheek.
SteveP502 made a statement that he didn't like sacrificing defensive rebounds for shot blocks. Now I certainly don't follow everything he posts, but nowhere did he say (in that post) that he has been clamoring for a shot blocker. But the retort to his post was "But for the longest time our fans clamored for a legit shot blocking presence". So who is "our fans". I certainly haven't clamored for anything, and I don't recall SteveP502 "clamoring for a legit shot blocker".
I know that I am making something out of nothing here. If SteveP502 said in one post that we need a legit shot blocker, and then complained about losing rebounds at the expense of having shots blocked, then yeah, he probably is asking for too much (and I should just shut up). So has he clamored for a legit shot blocker in the past?
Personally I love the whole shot-blocking mentality. And it might cost us a few rebounds, but the intimidation factor is definitely one of those un-measurables that the team benefits from. It is hard to put a stat on, well he settled for a jump shot because he didn't want to be on sportscenter.
