Congratulations jakarr! Now parlay this into a BE player of the year next year!

This is a sentiment that I fully endorse.
Congrats. It sounds like he has a good head on  his shoulders.

“@QSTJHoops: JaKarr led #stjbb in points in a game 13 of 30 possible times. More telling: he's done so in 7 of the last 9 games.”

Would Orlando Sanchez be considered a rookie next year?  Let's make it three in a row...

dont think so, and even if it technically was I dont see the coaches voting for a non freshmen.

Congrats JaKarr!  Never had a doubt, notwithstanding a certain doomsayer on this board who expressed otherwise.

Moose just used reverse "mojo"

So to draw an analogy from the great show Seinfeld, Moose is like George Costanza in that, Costanza only got what he wanted when he did the opposite of what he thought he should do.

I prefer the Incarcerated Bob reverse jinx.

Be honest though.  With all the crap lately over this program would you have been shocked.  Least I wasn't rooting against him like some others.
No, I would not have been shocked. I am however disappointed to learn there are some on the board who were rooting against the kid. Really? What are they doing on a St.Johns board?

Great news that lavin is saying that publicly. Heard the same in regards to Dlo fwiw.

Looks like lavin will have a full stable next year.

I don't think JUCO players qualify.

The award was changed years back from Freshmen of the Year to Rookie of the Year back when we had Prop 48 and non-qualifiers were allowed to enroll but not practice.  So back then after a year of sitting out they technically would be sophomores by the time they were allowed to play but still could qualify for the award (Hence the name Rookie). I believe Brian Shorter of Pitt back in '89 won it this way.  I have to check that to be sure.

But since non-qualifiers are no longer allowed the award essentially is a "Freshmen of the Year" award.

Lav could ask Karr to run to the top of the Empire State Bldg and Karr would ask how many times. Thats the relationship.

Fantastic news for Jakarr.  ROY of the year two years in a row at St. John's.  Jakarr with some added range on his shot and muscle will be unstoppable next year, especially next to Orlando, Dom, Garrett etc.  Frontcourt going to be beastly next year.  Sounds like Jakarr has a head on his shoulders and is coming back which is great to hear.  I think he needs it and look what it did for kids like Otton Porter and Oladipo.  Congrats Jakarr!

Great to hear that stuff.  It's why Lavin put in blood, sweat and tears recruiting Jakarr and didn't give up.  Love kids like that on our team and love seeing player's who are invested in SJU as well.

This, is the biggest change we'll see in recruiting now that Lav doesn't have to fill an arc every offseason.
More than shooters or athletes, or any of that, I gotta think coach is going to zero in on his kinda guys.

He isn't projected where Mo was, so I don't think he is going anywhere.  If he was going to be a top 15/20 pick, that is a different story altogether.
