It should be SJU\Duke and GTown\MSU.  I hate the ACC football programs for taking that game away.

screw the ACC--i would have liked a Big East/Big Ten doubleheader--say Hoyas/State and SJU/Michigan

Tough to schedule 2 of the top 3 Big 10 squads in 1 season.

“@ECoastBias: . @DickieV, also on the Johnnies bandwagon - see five college hoops teams to watch - http://espn.go.com/espn/story/_/id/9560191/five-college-hoops-return-prominence #stjbb #sjubb”q

"In the Big East, Steve Lavin has good reason to be confident. JaKarr Sampson is back to key the Red Storm. D'Angelo Harrison, who was suspended late last season, is also slated to return. An added year of experience will help young shot-blocker extraordinaire Chris Obekpa. And a lot is expected from a pair of newcomers, diaper dandy Rysheed Jordan and Orlando Sanchez."

Are we all still compelled to hate Dickie V?  ???

His articles I like. Hate him when he starts talking. I think that's fair.

Dick was always pretty supportive of sju. I think he would love us good and the garden rocking.

I agree with that, people just hate Vitale because he is such a Duke homer

Just realized Duke once again not on the schedule. Maybe the hiatus will never end due to the ACC expanding.

I thought we played in the post season last year. NIT doesn't count?

Pecora via http://dalydoseofhoops.blogspot.com:

Pecora on playing St. John's:
"It's an important game...we're New York's Atlantic 10 team, and they're New York's Big East team. I think it's a game that needs to be played all the time. Obviously, I'd prefer for it to be a home-and-home series, but it hasn't gotten to that point yet. Maybe somewhere down the line, that'll be something that's doable."

Pecora setting the terms of a series with any team is pretty laughable.  They need it to be played all the time because it's the only invite they will ever get to MSG.  The game being played at Rose Hill does absolutely nothing for us and never will.  I would actually love it if we took Fordham off the schedule completely because that will not only help our RPI but also leave that clown scrambling for more excuses.

Comical how he attempts to put Fordham on SJ's level...and implies that they are the #2 team in the area...Does he realize that they are not even top 10

I'm generally sympathetic to Fordham/Pecora, but this is kind of pathetic

The December Syracuse showdown in the Garden is unquestionably the most critical game on the schedule.

It's a huge barometer for where we are as a program. Can we finally protect our house, our city? This will very likely be a Top25 matchup, arguably a sellout depending on the press/momentum.

Not only will it sway our RPI, I think that this is the biggest game the program has had in 10+ years on multiple levels.

Thoughts?

Huge game. Impossible to say at this moment if it is the biggest game we have had in last 10+ years. Id say gonzaga in 2011 was our biggest game

Agree it's an important game for pride, as a barometer and as an RPI driver.  But I don't think it'll be a top 25 match-up.  Even if the team is 8-0 going in I don't think the wins, unless rousing and well covered, over Wisconsin, Penn St and Ole Miss/Ga Tech will be enough to get STJ ranked, maybe noticed but probably not ranked.  Coming out of the game 9-0 is another story.
