there are 13 schollies so replacing a 6 man class means we should have 7 good spread out in classes players returning and if the new class is a good one there is no reason we will not have continuity in a winning program. And that's not even counting any possible walk-on contributors you are oh so very very fond of.

If only that were true, Celtics.  If only that were true....

The reality is they won't be spread out.  Ponds will be a senior...there will be 1-2 true juniors...and the remaining 10 spots will be replaced in two years.  Essentially we are in a worse spot than this year.  We've proven this year that four seniors and a group of very talented freshmen can't win.  We've already proven that freshmen can't win many times...going back to Omar, Cuffe, Mo, Willie and co. and recently with Harkless, Sampson, Harrison, Pointer, and Greene.

Awful Example about the Four Seniors this year. 2 of these guys are MAAC to A-10 talent at its best, Ron came from the MVC and Johnson was out all last year.  To say playing 4 seniors and talented freshman would not work again because of this year is crazy.....I do agree with you that i am sick of the cycle range every 4 years but i am very confident that our staff will add a transfer and Juco transfer each year to help balance out the scholarships

JUCO transfers the next two years will only make things worse.

Give me Jucos then. Fine. There are plenty of them out there who aren't as terrible as Darien Williams. LoVett redshirts and the current team will wasted an important learning season. You can only learn so much without a point guard.

I think you missed that point entirely.  We cannot add a JUCO in 2017 or they will graduate with the current freshman class.  So JUCOs are completely out of the question for 2017.  Any JUCOs added in 2016 will be gone the year before this class freshman class graduates.

No, I didn't miss the point. I don't give a shit about 4 years from now. I don't care who they add, or how they add them. They're a coaching staff, and their jobs will be to figure it out, but if they put up 8 wins on the season this year, and 1 BE win, they can get the F out for all I care because they don't deserve to be here.

Is everything okay with you?  Why so much hostility towards a team that is bound to let you down?  Hoping for greatness at SJU is like hoping that Mexico holds on to its US territories in the 19th century.  We all know how it's going to play out.

Poison, please tell me what better players they could've gotten in 3 months? Or did you want the program-poison (pun intended) of Rysheed and Obekpa in here to play the role of leaders for a young group?? Please tell me who you expected this staff to get in April.  Outside of losing to Fordham, 6-3 is about as good as we could've hoped for at this time.  We have had our PG sitting out, one of our forwards sat out for most games also with eligibility, and we have had numerous injuries.  Please explain to me in what area you feel our staff could've done better? We have Ponds coming in next year, along with likely Ahmed (being recruited by Ok State, Texas, Cincy, Louisville) and Freudenberg, who european scouts have tweeted is a possible NBA prospect.  They will replace guys like Amar (who no one else recruited), Christian Jones (recruited by mid to low majors) and Felix Balamou (also BARELY recruited by low to mid majors).  It remains to be seen how good of a coach Chris Mullin turns out to be.  I don't think that's something we can conclude this year, but I'm not sure what more you could've expected this staff to do both in terms of recruiting and the on-court results we've seen to this point.

Freudneberg and Bashir are not players on our team. They are not assets. We can not count on them for anything. Ponds has commited. I hope he is good and ready to play early. He will have to. I agree Mullin has done as well as could be expected. However, why did have to start completely over? Unlike what most of you think I didn't like our last coach . Still I wish he was still here. A disappointing season is better then this. In my opinion we have little to build on and will suck not only this year but next as well. We could have let him finish out his contract and changed coaches this year. The fans hated him and had him fired. Someone should have seen what was going to happen.

I can't see the staff letting Lovett sit.  They wouldn't be fighting this hard for him, if they intended not to play him this year.

I do see Marillac's point, but I'd still play him.  It can only help the rest of the guys (both now and in the future) by having them play with a true pg.  Mullin has 2 of the best recruiters in the country on staff.  My guess is they see the same thing Marillac does, and will work accordingly on it.  I'm not worried, not yet anyway.

First time I ever seen Lovett is 2 minutes ago in this thread.  That's a first rate crossover and a lot of mustard on that hot dog!  Fellini also has a good deal of flash in his game and if he plays next to this,  he'll let loose too and it'll be showtime in Queens!  Albeit with a lilliputian back court and a plethora of turnovers.

I go to some games.  I want to be entertained and watch a decent product out on the hardwood.  This year...and every year.

Of course if eligible he plays and it's a non-issue.  I'm sure there is NO talk whatsoever among the coaching staff about 'saving him' for 2020.

Besides, I could be dead in four years.

I guarantee Lovett wont sit if eligible. I say get the wins now. It helps the players, coaches self esteem and helps recruiting. As mentioned, having a true PG would  help the other players. In todays world, you have plenty of transfers and 1 or 2 and done. Who knows we may even recruit a MCD AA like Alkins, who definitely would not be here for 4 years, wants to be a 1 and done. Furthermore, winning helps the fans who pay for the product. W our staff ,I am not worried about 4 years from now.

They're a coaching staff, and their jobs will be to figure it out, but if they put up 8 wins on the season this year, and 1 BE win, they can get the F out for all I care because they don't deserve to be here.

My point is that if the staff would let Lovett sit out the season should be he eligible, I would like them to resign. I don't want a staff that doesn't do everything they can to win every season. I could give a shit about 4 years from now. You bring in players, and they get hurt, those are the breaks, but if you sit a player that you desperately need, I question your dedication to winning in addition to your basic judgement.

They're not having him sit out if all plays out as it may and he becomes eligible next week, so I'm not sure the purpose of this what-if.  If he's eligible in the near future, he's playing.

There are those who hate St.John's enough to suggest that he redshirt. I am only responding to those who feel that way, and if that should be anyone on our coaching staff, that person or persons can kindly F off.

Probably similar to what we have now. The difference between the two groups of players is that Hatten's teammates couldn't shoot straight, but they played defense. This group doesn't play defense, but they have a few decent shooters. This is a soft team. They don't get after it. They by and large don't play hard enough to win.

This team has only lost one game to a team that they could/should have beat. They are playing hard. They get after it. Have you forgotten the Rutgers game already?

I went to the St.Francis game, and to the Niagara game. They only won those games because those teams were cold down the stretch from outside. Mussini and Johnson don't guard shooters. When I say get after it, I mean play defense like you mean. This team doesn't, with the exception of maybe 2 or 3 players, some of the time, they just stand around on defense. Why, I have no idea.

Dude you need to take some meds and get some help.  Seriously, stay away from sharp objects for awhile.
