- I was impressed with how many people showed up wearing red on a rainy sunday for an 11 am start with the Giants in the midst of a playoff run.  We really don't give our fan base much if anything to get behind.

- Carmine Jr. and I sat there in stunned silence by the length and severity of the seemingly 30 to 0 end of first half run.  I was looking for another TO (timeout) when it seemed like coach was trying to make it to the TV timeout and all I got was another TO (turnover).

- Malik IV was the player of the game.  Something that probably has never been written before. Shot great but still was turnover prone.  Thought the officials called that "first step before you dribble" very tight on him a couple of times.

- We need defensive pressure on the ball when the opponent is fast breaking before they get 10 ft. from the basket. Pstate guards ran foul line to foul line before they even faced any resistance time after time.

- Seen the Ucla/Nc game mentioned several times.  However,  the game of the day had to be Northeastern hosing Mich. St. in Michigan.  Don't like Izzo.  He's such a crybaby with the refs. That Duke/Florida transfer grad. student Murphy can play. He's a real inside/outside threat.

Any talk of a coaching change is insane.

We gave Norm Roberts six years, but we're going to run Chris Mullin out of town after a year and a half?

There is no plan B; this is it. Yes, it may take longer than any of us wanted, and it may be more painful than we expected, but we have to be all in here. It's time to modify our expectations, appreciate any wins we can steal in the Big East when we shoot well from 3, let our kids get another year's experience, continue to add talent, and look to the future.

We've chosen our path, and there's no going back now.

Maybe you should take a look and see how unprepared we are. This staff is not only inexperienced, they are completely inept.

How exactly are you determining the team is unprepared? Are you at their practices? Are you at their film sessions? When we came out last year and spanked a final four Syracuse team did we look unprepared? Where you saying the staff is inept? It looked like Mullin out coached a hall of fame coach. Coaching isn't rocket science. At the end of the day the players need to execute the plan and put the ball through the net. When they do, the staff is genius, when they don't, their inept. Teams win with talent. A top ten recruit went to Kansas last year over us and couldn't get off the bench. Why? because they had better players on the team than him. He would have been the best player on our roster. It's about talent, and this team lacks it, even against so called "lesser programs".
We spanked Syracuse last year. They were missing their HEAD COACH! I imagine it will be much different this time. If we win this week, Coach Mullin will get and deserve all the respect and credit. He will get it from me at least.

Unprepared isn't the right word. The style we play cant and wont win here. If we had Chris mull in, Mitch Richmond, and Tim hardaway this run and gun system would be amazing to watch and we could win. Letting guys like amar and ellsion shoot whenever and when ever they want wont work. Ponds and Lovett should have the green light, but they need to take better shots. Bad shots lead to long rebounds which lead to easy baskets by the other team. What was the run 35-5? No timeouts, no in game coaching! Penn State struggles most games to score, not against us.

Did you see the game sunday? Which team looked better prepared to you?

How many times last year were we give up 50 points in the 1st half last year? How many times do you think we give it up  50 this year? Penn state could have scored 100. So could Delaware state.  That is good coaching? That is a good game plan. That kind of team could win? Check out Delaware States record, I am sure they score close to a 100 every game.

The talent on this team is good enough for a respectable basketball season. Split the big 10. Win a game in the Bahamas. Beat the cupcakes. Win 4-6 games in conference. This team will fall far short of that. That is on the Coach.

We have 5 wins this year, do we get to 8? Is 8 wins acceptable to you? For 2 million? Why should he another chance? Does Penn state, providence, Marquette, and depaul have that much more talent then St. Johns?  They are going to kill us!

Next year we fire the lowest coach on the staff and bring in a hasbeen to coach the team?  Mullin is the head coach, but St. Jean should be fired? Or worse we keep the staff the same, should we expect a different outcome?

Next year we will have either a 4 or 5 star player at every position and plenty of 4 star players on the bench. What will be the excuse then?

I'm assuming you're being facetious, but there's always a Plan B.  If you say, there isn't a Plan B the remainder of this season, and possibly, next season, then I agree.  But, there is always an alternative.

I'd bet if we're getting similar results by the end of next season, then he'll either resign or receive the boot.  Losing games is inevitable, and certainly, the case with this group.  It's how we're losing games.

The defense is putrid.  It reminds me of the defense you typically see in high school all-star games.  Maybe, not that bad, but it's not far behind.  We've shown games where we execute well on the offensive end, but there are too many times where it turns into playground ball, as well.  Ahmed is the ringleader of this style of ball.  There are times where it has become infectious and a detriment to the team.

Progression, folks.  Hopefully, we can see some the rest of the way.

It's not really 100% Ahmed's fault that he looks so bad playing this way. That's his style and that's what he was brought here to do. Maybe if the staff had him curling off screens he wouldn't have to put his head down and drive into traffic while the rest of the guys stand around

What I don't get is the staff ran stuff for Felix last year. It was effective and played to his strengths but I haven't seen it for Ahmed, Mussini, etc. Hell the team ran more half court sets for Sima than any other guy on the team.

I spaced on this game. Night before was my father's 60th birthday and I took him and the family out to the Dolphins v Jets game (We're big Dolphin fans). So I was riding high on the win. Looked at my phone at a barrage of texts regarding St. John's and I tuned in mid 2nd half when we were down 19. Pretty stunned because Penn State is just as young and lost a pretty good senior class (Taylor, Jack, Foster).

Shep Garner and Josh Reeves are both kids I liked out of high school but damn they shouldn't be beating us.

Team should have better results than the ones we are seeing but team has very good nucleus. Team needs to mature, gel, and prepare better.

They should post Ahmed up, it'd cut down on the turnovers he gets tying to get close to the basket.

Why did Ahmed only get 20 minutes? He stunk up the court, but so did most

What kills me about this is that we are getting beat for the simple things that can be corrected. Transition defense should be easy to correct.

Listen, I'm gonna make a basketball comment.

Why does it seem like everyone on this team is in danger of traveling. Always picking up and shuffling their feet. Ahmed and Ellison especially.

If the coaching doesn't improve, you're all going to be here a year or two from now wondering why the team isn't even in the top half of the BE with better recruits.

X's and O's, In-game coaching. If we don't see those things from the CS by the end of year 2, then we're most likely never going to see it from this current staff.

Mullin needs a real experienced ass't on the bench. Not sure if it's in the team budget or if he blew it on Richmond but that is what he needs to accelerate the chemistry of this team on the court.

if ponds leaves you can start getting that seat hot so for his sake he'd better hope that doesn't happen

I know Mullins has a high bball iq, but is he coaching them?
Something is real wrong. I'd hope the staff is trying the correct their mistakes.
It's Ellisons 2nd year right?

When has Amar ever tried getting close to the basket, with the ball in his hands anyway?

I know this is my first post in a while, and I probably shouldn't. But we fired a coach that brought us three 20 win seasons in 5 years, for this. I'm still going to give Mullin another year, but I still stand by my stance that Lavin was the best coach we've had here in a long time. I'd take him back in a heartbeat.
Why limit ourselves to coaches with a connection to St. John's? There is a whole big wide world out there you know, and it's full of other coaches.
