Luther Muhammad transferring from Ohio St.
When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

That 7 footer from Drake didn't last long - going to Minnesota.

Did he ever seriously consider St Johns? A lot of hype on his recruitment, but as I remember we didnt make his top five. He and Griffin at Cuse would be a nice backcourt.

We apparently were a serious contender. Some here said we were the leader or front runner at one point. I recall Muhammad making some public comments about the SJU staff needing to show it can “help a player get better” despite the pedigree. When I heard that I figured we were done and that he wanted a more proven coach/staff.

Unless LJ leaves, we dont have a scholarship available. But, if I was Cuse, I’d be all over this guy. That would be some backcourt for 21-22.

I remember the staff met with him and after that he basically said no way. He was a tough NYC kid that didn’t like our style of play.

Jalen Harris transfers from Arkansas to Georgetown. He had his best year by far with Anderson two seasons ago.

I find this somewhat discouraging. Why have none of Anderson’s players followed him? In fact, one of his transfers out returned to Arkansas after he was fired to play for Musselman and averaged 14.0 5.2 and 2.2 this year as a grad transfer.

We obviously could have used Harris to bridge this season for two freshmen PGs. Instead he goes to a team with an all-conference caliber combo guard?

He’s got 2 pgs, one of which a quality recruit who I’m sure expects minutes, the other a redshirt who already sat a year. At this point getting a big was a much bigger concern and with LJ/draft scenario I think waiting on his decision is the better bet.
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

This makes sense to me. You have the two freshman plus Dunn and Williams as ball handling options. We needed a big body down low and as you pointed out Marillac that was need #1. Now it is all about LJ and what happens there. I actually have a feeling he may return for various reasons.

I’m a little surprised that you feel this way...at first I wanted Harris also, but like you, I’m high in McGriff, so to me with LJ’s status still not settled, I’m glad we stayed away....if we signed him, I believe McGriff would have def hit the portal....

I thought for sure we would have been in hard on Jalen Harris, especially with the Mike Anderson connection.

I get that we have 2 young PG's, but they are inexperienced and short.  Say what you will about Rutherford but I would love to have him back next year, some veteran scrappy leadership.  Harris would have brought that.

I have read we are out of scholarships, but we have one if LJ stays? How do we handle recruiting for a spot that may or may not exist?  How long until LJ has to make a final decision?

Interesting transfer, Jair Bolden. He was Toro’s old teammate from GW and spent the last two years at South Carolina. He’s 6’4 212, from Brooklyn, played his freshman year at St. Anthony’s for Hurley, and his uncle is Jamel Thomas from the elite eight Providence team. 43% from deep for South Carolina.

I’m not sold on his athletic ability but his skill level is better than anything we have returning. He’s got that old school back down/spin game down and it looks like he can kick it out very well. Coordinated kid.
