All Assistant Coaches Threads

whats up guys.  things are crazy here in Indianapolis.  I've had the pleasure of talking to numerous coaches and assistants from the country.  I hate to tease you guys because im dying with suspense about who the staff is going to be.  I just got word that we will basically all be VERY happy with our assistants. He said 'you guys are gonna be.....whoa'.   I wish you could see the enthusiasm on this guys face, it got me goin.  He would NOT confirm who our guys would be, but I mentioned Slice and Dunlap, he smiled and said there is a "dark horse".  Sorry for the half ass info but I'll try and get some names by tomorrow night!

Well....  Thanks for the info, Red Dot.  I'm sure he's gonna keep it close to the vest.  But, I'm enjoying the suspense.  Although, I'm ready for the assitants to be named.

I'm hoping it's Slice, Dunlap and either, Grasso or Richardson.  I think we would have the best assitants in the Big East, if that particular staff would come to fruition.

By the way, I hope you can put some Ex-Lax into the Duke players pre-game meal before tomorrow's game.  LOL

I'll do my best to get some names by tomorrow.  From what this man told me, I have to assume we have 1 maybe 2 guys on board by verbal agreement at least.  I think Slice is likely.  I talked to an assistant from Pitt who told me about him recruiting for them in New York and how he has been struggling at Manhattan, but we'll see.   Have no clue who the dark horse is, my guess is jay williams but only because he has been mentioned here and he would be a suprise.  Also, Coach Lavin was supposed to talk to Seton Hall's DOO about a position but I don't think we are going to touch that with a 10 foot pole.

i think this is where we make a real statement with the rest of the conference and the nations teams in general...there are mixed feelings about lavin but if he brings in a superstar supporting cast, everyone will KNOW we are for real again...it removes all doubt that may exist

I agree, SJD....  I think a a group of top-notch assistant coaches will definitely show the Big East and the nation that we're not fooling around and going to be immediately heard from in the recruiting game and eventually, on the court.

I'm getting giddy by just the thought of what could transpire later this week.

I read somewhere that he originally verballed to Tenn. and then back out.  If that is the case, then he clearly doesn't have playing for Book as his #1 priority.

I happened to be at LJSA when his mother was talking to WWW. The kid opened it up right after. When Pearl got back from the Maccabi Games, he headed to Vegas for the big tournaments and a lot of coaches were commiserating with him.

Sleave,  Been to St. Elmo's, excellent place.  Unfortunately I don't have the time to enjoy one of their shrip cocktails or steaks but it would be nice.  If I can get any info tonight you guys will know.  If not, we should know by Friday who our staff is going to be.  PS - Lovin the weather in Indy right now.
