Its a tough lose for the short term, but long term its for the best. I read alot about his game but after watching him these past few games its clear that he has alot of work to do. He had a very tough life so I wish Nuri all the best and hope he finds what he is looking for. One thing is for sure, Lavin's absence is having a profound effect on this program after only a short time away. Hope Lavin has a speedy recovery.

probably better to leave now/drop classes without all those poor grades and be ineligible.  he sits out year and comes back for a second semester where he can play majority of 2012/13 games and then drop out again.  what a way to play a year of college basketball and sleep through classes.  At least Andrew Gaze and Michael Porter had to get a 2.0 for ONE semester.

Major mistake to leave your peers in a lurch--what goes around comes around and this stain will always follow.

my brother, who attends SJU, and had class with Nuri, says Nuri attend the first few weeks of class. once october hit, he was MIA.  my brother told me this weeks ago.  it was a non issue then, but given what's transpired, i think it's relevant, appropriate information.

 This particular event says more about Nuri than it does about the staff IMO.  I'll wait till the details are out before I start killing anyone though.

who said i didnt like the lavin hire?  I thought it was a good hire....but it's hilarious how everyone continues to throw kudos at the guy/staff and can never admit that they have done a bad job so far this season.


Our program is an embarassment right now...and id bet nuri isn't the last guy to transfer.  And ill ask again, who do we have for next season coming in?

It is your opinion they've done a "bad job" so far this season.  "Bad job" and having growing pains with a young team are two entirely different opinions.  If you feel they've done a bad job, you should at least support it with some compelling reasons for your opinion.

Dude, are you serious?  Lavin has had three kids academically ineligble and now has had two kids transfer in Polee and Nuri...is there any more explanation needed on why Lavin and company have done a bad job this season? 

Polee and Nuri had some things in common. Big ambition, poor work ethic, and weak resolve.

These things happen but its magnified when 95% of your team is new and your in the center of the media world. Lavin has has little to no tolerance for bad seeds. As Jay-Z would say on to the next one..

So Lavin gets no blame for recruiting bad seeds (your words) ? 

The homerism here is second to none....I love our program, I still love our kids/team despite how pessimistic I am but to continue to rid Lavin of any blame is just so comical.  Our program is a complete mess/joke right now.

Choz is the resident shaman of the jungle.  Choz obtains solutions to problems affecting the Johnnies community.  Embrace and behold Choz' wisdom...  

All we can do is hope that coach gets better and is here for the long run, if so i think we'll be fine. He had to replace a whole team top to bottom almost unheard of, he took some chances. Moe, Dom, D'angelo, GG and Phil all seem to be good character guys. If this was a normal year and we had 3 or 4 recruits and 1 did'nt qualify it would'nt be a topic, now double that and make it two (Amir will be here in the next few days) and it averages out. Lets not forget the kids last year bought into lavs and the asst's style and by the end of the yr we were a fun team to watch,we would'nt of thought so after st bonnies and fordham. I remember Sean Evans was'nt happy with Dunlap in the beginning and by the end he realized coach was preparing him for the road ahead. Not that it makes it easier to swallow but look at Arizona, between MoMo and Johnson leaving and throw in Josiah Turner getting suspended they still have the top class coming in.

Is anyone else nervous that Lavin may not be coaching this year? I am probably just reading into it to much, but couldn't Nuri and the rest of the team been told that Lavin will not coach this year and this is why Lindsey decided to leave. He might have believed his own hype that he could be in the NBA next year, and didn't think it was possible if Lavin wasn't coaching him this year. I am most likely paranoid with all the bad news that has been coming out.

  Sure.  If he doesn't come back we are screwed.  No recruit is going to commit here no matter how much you think you can schmooze them. Obviously his health is priority is number 1, but he has to come back.  He needs to get in front of this in the media,  quickly.

 What bothers me the most is the way Nuri's handlers are speaking in other forums. Bad mouthing Lavin, Dunlap, and the other players.  Not surprised considering they are from Philly.  Like Lavin is a liar because he got sick?   I suspect we never hear from Nuri again, at least in a basketball sense...
