St. John's twitter site now saying that ESPN has asked them to wait until Wed. to reveal the schedule (I'm still thinking it's only going to be non-conference).

IMO, that's the day to do it, since it's the most dead sports day in America.
But isn't there a triple A all-star game that day? :)

I don't like how the game is so close to Charleston.

So we will be playing the 13th, 15th, 16th and 18th.

Fair point, but national exposure too good to pass up IMO. I guess our depth will also help w rigorous period you reference Moose. We'll see!

No question if the game wasn't ESPN we wouldnt be playing it.  Just like we wouldnt have played St. Mary's two years ago.  Can't pass up ESPN games.

So in the first 6 days of the season we could have 4 games against NCAA tournament teams from last season?    I'm not thrilled about that.

Actually it would be only 3 NCAA teams at most, I think Moose said he heard we were definitely playing Charleston at their tournament.

Still.   I think that can be a recipe for disaster for a team adding a bunch of new parts.    We've seen the last 2 years the team gets off to a slow start until they learn how to play in the zone, and just as importantly, play the offense the staff installs in the fall.     (still don't know what you call it that weave and cut we run).

How many times in November and December of the last two years have we wanted to pull our hair out because the ball just swings around the perimeters because our guys are tentative and don't want to screw up,  and/or we're getting burnt on defense by shooters we haven't learned to rotate and close out on?

I'll admit it should be slightly better bc we have several guys returning; but I still see a steep learning curve for this team.     Come February we may be rolling, but the last two years tell me we won't be in November.

Detroit lost a lot. They have one good player. We should murder them.

They lose Holman, Simon and Love.  A lot of boards are gone there.  2nd leading scorer in Simon.

I think we open with Charleston and they weren't a tourney team and the games after 'could' be.

Who knows.

They return McCallum their leading scorer and Calliste their 5th leading scorer.  Minnerath who was 3rd leading scorer I think could return with a redshirt.  Love who hurt us in place of Minnerath and Holman who missed our game last year can also return I think.  Would like to know more about what in fact they DO return as opposed to possibilities.

True that.  Macullom is good but their other starters graduated.   Still -  Detroit, Baylor, Murray State  ...all in the first week of the season?      Why can't we just play a Syracuse schedule?   Get off to a nice 10-1 start or something like that, get some confidence for these guys, get the freshmen up to speed, get Branch back ... and then be ready to take off once conference play starts.

We still play a Big East schedule, our strength of schedule would be decent even if we played 10 D-II teams to start the season.

We had Lindsey running the point last year. He was awful. We gave them tons of free possessions and wide open baskets. I think Greene, Harrison, Pointer and Garrett will be too much for them. Not to mention our new frontcourt which is deeper than theirs.

Remember I posted I thought Nuri had money on that game.  He was dreadful.  Agree our frontcourt is a lot better.

Can Holman, Minnerath, and Lowe return?   I thought they were all seniors.

And yea, no question - we would have been better off with either of you Moose or Poison, as our pg for that game.    Nuri was horrible.

Holman is gone.  The other two haven't played 4 years but have been in college for 4 yrs so depends on what they want to do with their eligibility.  I think they both transferred already so it gets tricky then.
