I don't care if he's nba-ready.  He deserves to play NCAA ball and we really need a guy in the frontcourt that can rebound, pass and score.  Sanchez would make SJU pretty powerful in the frontcourt next year, and would do a service to himself getting his degree and showing what he can or can't do for NBA scouts.  Add Sanchez, Rysheed, Gift and Hooper to the guys we have now and we are ready to roll out the balls for a big season next year.

Hahahaha

I don't want to ask how you plan on adding all these parts.

A hooper walkon would be all that is needed no? Granted I don't know the chances of that happening.
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

someone is going to transfer. there is no doubt in my mind.  not enough minutes to go around.

here's what i think in order of likelihood:
Jones (if Sanchez comes back, no way this kid gets minutes)
Amir (we have Dom. no need to duplicate players.)
DLo (disappointing year thus far. may just want to go home and start over)
JKS (no likely to enter draft, but i'm sure it's crossing his mind)

How is this a disappointing year for Harrison?  His numbers are pretty much identical to last year.
And when if ever would a Top 3 or so scorer in the BE and 1000 pt scorer in yr and a half transfer?

"A hooper walkon would be all that is needed no? Granted I don't know the chances of that happening."

This kid is a perfect example of these boards! People have started saying that this kid is some kind of reincarnation of Jimmy Chitwood and that Bourgault wont play next year becuase of him. Meanwhile here is a quote asking if he would be a walkon next year. I went back and looked at his recruiting thread and it is all over the place and the kid played what 1 minute at Harvard?  So basically next year if Sanchez plays with Hooper, we are getting Lamar Odom and Ron Rowan or Reggie Jessie and Heath Orvis. I love these boards!

Sanchez + gift + the current active roster is incredibly deep. Hooper is another specialist on a team that has 2 guys who can shoot 3s. No clue if Sanchez is going to be eligible, if dangelo or jakarr leave, if jones or Amir transfer, or is Jordan commits. But you have to be reasonably optimistic given the options and potential

From today's Zagsblog:

"...Sanchez said he’s been in touch with former St. John’s and NBA player Felipe Lopez to get some advice.

“We talked to each other the other day for a little bit,”  he said. “He talked to me about his time here and how St. John’s is a good place for me. He was one of my coaches in the Dominican Republic and he has helped me a lot....”

Rather than speculating on our roster, the reality is that if by some chance we get Sanchez eligible and Jordan to commit, the numbers will work themselves out.  We all know that.

Amen! See Louisville blueprint for such occasions.

I thought that Hooper cannot be a walkon bcause he was recruited for basketball. Otherwise we could just put gift on an academic schollie and count him as a walkon. Does anyone know if this is the case?

Sanchez.

I would say Jordan, unless somehow Sanchez is granted 2 years of eligibility.

WASJU got "academic" scholie so that my school did not have to waste baseball scholarship. That was out of HS not as a transfer and was over 20 years ago so maybe rules are different now?
BTW might have been the only kid on academic scholie that was almost put on academic probation :)

If they both stay 1 yr.  Who is more important.

Sanchez.

It's kind of a trick question. We are a Sanchez and Jordan away from being competitive at the very highest level. Hope it works out

Sanchez. I think he'd help us more next year, because Jordan would only be a Freshman.

If Sanchez is good enough to start for the Jazz right now why is coming back next year?
