More Jamal, and more man-to-man.
I'd like us to continue to try the in-out game.  It's something we haven't done in several years.
But even if Obekpa/Jones post up and get doubled, it creates opportunities for others on the perimeter.
And they both seem to be establishing good, early, position.

Obekpa had a couple of nice kick outs last game. Hope to see more.

Not sure we have enough size to really limit Sir Dom's minutes.

I'm all for Branch getting a ton of time this year. He needs to stop picking up silly fouls so he can stay on the court.

So you were thinking a lineup of Obepka, Harrison, Jordan, Greene and Branch? can't start 4 6-2 guys this is not 1950

Also Branch was limping last game, so not sure how banged up he is. Either way, while I like that our guards pressure the ball, guys like Branch and Phil need to show better awareness. If you are getting beat, at least back off the guy a bit if he is outside of his shooting range

Branch is much better jumping passing lanes than his on ball defense.

Jordan might be best on ball defender with Pointer being a very close 1a.

didn't say starting.  just more time.

this last game, Dom was horrible. he can't lead a fast break, he was a defensive liability, and plays way out of control. he hasn't changed.

just seems like lavin goes is in with pre-established rotations.  he doesn't adjust to how guys are playing or to the flow of the game.  it's clear lavin has favorites on the team.

I don't think he just doesn't adjust. Against inferior opponents he follows a script. he works on things. He tries things , he stays with things that aren't working.  I would rather he blow a team out then practice things . I really hope that is the thought process . If not I have been sticking up for an idiot.
Think the team comes out focused since they didn't last game. They are bigger then us, so it will be interesting to see how we guard them. In the end we win by 20. Season starts against Minnesota.

8 pts, 5 reb, 3 stls, 1 to. I'm good with that production.

Please dont tell me you think dom is a good on ball defender Dave.

Not in the least bit, it is the most overstated thing regarding a st. johns player that I have witnessed. I think he is closer to awful then he is to great.

I feel Dom gambles too much... Tries for the "from behind steal" or block way to often... Almost like he lets his man go so he can make the play from behind... Been my observations of Dom in previous years.

Aside from him being poor at keeping someone in front of him; loses his man often, stupid fouls 50+ ft from the basket, goes for blocks instead of stopping the ball.

Exactly, all the time! His man scored the first 11 points of the game Monday, and 8 of them were directly on him.

I agree with stupid fouls but disagree with keeping man in front. I'm not sure how you lose your man on the ball and I think two of Dom's best attributes are his active hands and timing.

The active hands combined with frustration leads to some boneheaded fouls. I can live with those from time to time because he makes ball handlers uncomfortable.

You can criticize Dom for his ball handling and decision making at times but don't think his defense is something I'd call out.
