Harkless is not more athletic than JaKarr. He was stronger though

Dave, are you, Marillac and Pat on the athleticism committee. I met all three of you so I am going to go out on a limb and say no. IN MY OPINION Harkless is a better athlete. See the "IN MY OPINION" thing there. Unless someone has their 40 times and vertical leap numbers I guess it is up for debate.
BTW the actual basketball skills are not refined yet, but I have seen about 5 or 6 of Harkless games this year and athletically he belongs. Jumping ability, quickness, strength. I do not think you could say the same about Sampson.
Dave, you should be able to pull up some sort of dunk tracker for the two guys.

You posted earlier about their relative athleticism but Jakarr is a better leaper and athlete then Obekpa and Harkless and it's not close.  Jakarr is upper level athlete.  We have quite a few on this team like pointer, Garrett, Balamou, jones etc.  Jakarr is a flyer though.

Without the stats, how can you say me, Dave, and Pat aren't better athletes tha both? ;)

He's not NBA yet. Not strong enough, or dominant enough. If you're NBA, you're dropping 25-30 every night no matter who you're playing.

This is one of the dumber quotes I've ever seen on this site.  And that's saying a lot!

What is the vertical and 40 times? Or is this just your opinion?  Becuase the fact that we disagree based on our different opinion on a subject makes me feel even better about my opinion. If you had agreed with me I would have changed my mind ;)

At the same height, Sampson can get his head above the rim.  It's something that Harkless couldn't do.  As unscientific as it might be, Jakarr passes the eye test as the better athlete both in speed up and down the court and vertical.  He's a dominant athlete.  Harkless was a very good athlete, and quite polished player for a freshman.  Whether you agree with me or not doesn't matter.  I think most others will agree though.

Harkless didn't get his head above the rim?

Oy vey

Maurice Harkless posterizes Robin Lopez!  ... look at the end (32 sec), not even close ...

How many other dunks are on You Tube?

He is 6' 8" with a max vertical of 37".  That is 9 feet 9" max.  So technically he cat get his head to the rim.

It only seems dumb because you are not able to process it.
Let me know if you'd like me to explain it to you.

NBA studs Adam Morrison and Jimmer Fredette spring to mind.

There's one player in d1 averaging 25 this year. Promises to be a lonely draft.

Currently 7 of them
JJ Redick
Gary Neal
Kevin Durant
Michael Beasley
Reggie Williams
Stephen Curry
Jimmer Fredette

And interestingly there are over 20 guys who did it, who aren't in the league.

According to NBA.com Morrison isn't actively on an NBA roster.

Jesus, hang on every word why don't you? Sampson has a limited game. That is my point. He is unable to dominate anything at this level. How on earth is he an NBA player?

He looks like a future NBA player to me. The only question is, is he declaring this year or next? I think he should wait another year.

Moe handled the ball like a guard.  He rebounded like a center.  Sampson, for as much as I love him, makes me close my eyes whenever he dribbles more than 2-3 times.  It's a mistake waiting to happen. He also doesn't rebound like Moe, but the difference there is much closer.

Sampson has not shown an ability to hit a three pointer, handle the ball on the perimeter, or defend a guard/forward.  Moe did all of those things (albeit the 3 pt shooting not at the greatest rate).

Moe had a couple 18 rebound games in BE. Sampson high is what 9 in BE?

the statistical comparisons are kind of irrelevant in my view.  moe wasn't drafted because he put up NBA numbers in nationally-televised games.  the was drafed because he has an nba body, some nba skills that needed refining but were likely to translate, and nba athleticism.  you can say the some of those same things about jakarr though i think to a lesser degree

Jakkar does not have the skill of Moe!  What is his position right now?  Who wants a SF that can't handle or shoot from three...can't even defend the perimeter.  There are plenty of kids in college basketall that can do that and are 6'7-6'9.  He's also not physically ready.  I thin he is eventually a first rounder.

I agree with you that I don't think he's ready for the NBA.  B
But the problem with that is they draft on potential.  If it's true that he's eventually a first rounder, then he's a first rounder now.
If he wouldn't be a first rounder this year, then he needs to come back and show them something they don't already expect him to develop in a year or two.

I never said he did have the same skill as Moe. If he did, he would be a lottery pick this year

When Moe opened up with 32 he got everyone's attention.  Despite a lot of good games I don't think Karr has done that yet.  I think he'd be drafted but no guarantee in the first round and definitely not lottery.  If he leaves it will be a mistake in the long term.  He hasn't even hit a college three yet.

I don't think one spot going to make a huge difference in Jakarr's status.
